The silent morning left its trace of dewdrops on the winter leaves and flowers. It was a pleasant morning for Joshua and his family. Joshua is a civil engineer, who has honed his skill since his college days. His dreams were always grandiose with wide wings through the air. His dream was to get a beautiful home for his mom. This became his dream from his childhood when he was played games at home. Every day after school, he would run into his room and start building this dream home. In reality, he and his brother Michael, who is a software engineer, faced lots of trouble in building this dream home. Nevertheless, today they were in a home they could afford, and though it was different from the one in their dream, it was of course well furnished, stylish, and a possessed a modern touch. Monday morning rolls around and I am in the classroom preparing for the day. Waylon is arriving at the same time I do.
Eric, first grade, walks in and loudly says, “Good Morning, Mrs. Kris!” He proceeds to show off his stuffed animal he brought for the day. He continues to make up a story and gets louder and louder making my ears want to block out the noise.
Sixth grader Billy comes in with his mother. His mother always shares his mood with me. His mother also carries in his backpack and sometimes a stuffed animal. Today Billy is feeling crabby and had a bad morning at home.

Saturday night and the old cliché comes to mind, my how times have changed. I remember being excited to go out to dinner and afterward for drinks and a whole lot of dancing. Black skirt, black nylons, pumps, red or white top, and silver earrings and I was good to go.
Now an exciting Saturday night for me consists of relaxing freelance writing in my extra soft Victoria Secret lounging pajamas. Twenty years ago had I known I could get paid to freelance write, I think I’d have been home writing instead of out drinking and dancing. Then again, I probably would not be married with children, as I’d be trapped in my room working away and not meeting people.
